It also owns buildings and supports associated institutions directly and indirectly.

Fondens vedtægtsmæssige formål er at indsamle midler og yde støtte til oprettelse og drift af institutioner til gavn for autistiske børn og institutioner og boliger for disse, når de som voksne forlader børneinstitutionerne. Fonden yder endvidere støtte til forskning, publikationer, uddannelses og studierejser og lignende opgaver, som efter bestyrelsens skøn vil være til gavn for mennesker med autisme. Sofiefonden ejer tre ejendomme, der er udlejet til eller stillet til rådighed for institutioner for autister – herunder en ejendom ejet via det 100 % ejede datterselskab Ejendomsselskabet Damsager P/S - samt en ejendom, der er udlejet til anvendelse til forsknings – og serviceydelser i forbindelse med autisme.
